I thrifted this book illustrated by Takeo Ishida a while ago. I immediately fell for it’s vivid colours and stunning illustrations. They’re each like beautiful little paintings. (Click to open the larger images!)
Wonderful, I’ve seen this book before, on your Flickr account! I specially like the red capped cranes. No wonder Takeo chose these regal birds, since they are very strongly connected with Japan, specifically Hokkaido. Although the book is in Dutch ‘Trompetterkraan(vogel)’ and Japan is not part of Oceanie….
